Child Counselling: How NLP Can Be Helpful For Children

NLP stands for neuro linguistic programming. It is a series of techniques that help children and adults with personal growth by conscious reprogramming of the neural pathways in the brain. It was first developed by Richard Bandler and John Grindler. NLP therapists believe that with the help of visual aid, use of language and different neural pathways can help to form new neural pathways that help to strengthen the brain.

NLP therapy for children is very beneficial. There are various child therapy courses for children suffering from dyslexia, depression, anxiety, peer pressure and many more. NLP can cater for these problems and build confidence in these children.

Children suffering from dyslexia can be treated with the help of NLP. Child therapists believe that they can actually create a new neural pathway in the affected brain enabling the child to read and spell. There are certain programs developed to cater for children suffering from dyslexia. These structured synthetic phonics programmes helped children in reading and writing. Child therapists use these programs to improve a child’s ability to read, spell and write. These programmes show traits of NLP. Through these programs, new networks of neural pathways have been developed that actually helps the child to read and write. Child therapists treat children suffering from dyslexia, like children with ESL, hearing impairment or language impairment. All of these children have showed improvement in their behaviour. Psychotherapy for children and adolescents also deal with the art of transformation of the brain of patients. In such cases, child therapists act as interpreters and observers that can actually clear out certain things for parents. In parent-child psychotherapy, the attachment of the child to the parent is the reason why insecurities can occur. The therapy has a triad relationship between parent, child and therapist. Psychotherapy can also help adolescents and children in many ways and its duration depends on the severity of the problem. Psychotherapy provides emotional support, ability to resolve conflicts, and understanding feelings and problems.

There are many challenges for child therapists conducting psychotherapy. The reason for these challenges is that children come from families who have exposed them to violence or other trauma, and they are very sensitive and often feel helpless. Some of them try to protect themselves from anything they feel is harmful to them. They build up self-protective tendency and because of this it can be a complex, clinical case. NLP is considered to be an authorized, believe-changing system, dealing with the internal representation of a person. NLP works on six basic levels; environment, behavior, capabilities, beliefs and value, identity, and purpose. These levels are important and help to achieve improvements.

NLP is believed to change negative values and it helps in self-motivation, self-esteem, public speaking and confidence building. NLP helps children also in the same way as it helps adults. Children who are too shy, can become expressive and confident. For parents who identified the problem, this is the way to solve it. Many parents hope that the problems will get better, but this is not always the case. A child therapist can assist the child to resolve the problems.

NLP therapy is the answer to children who are undergoing some problems related to psychological problems.
